Fisherman's Sandwich

Smoked trout is a nice local alternative and often more affordable than smoked salmon. Use it here in a sandwich and enjoy the perfect blend of dill, capers, cream cheese and lemon.

  • 2 slices Bon Matin™ No Fat, No Sugar Added 100% Whole Wheat Bread
  • 2 tsp (30 mL) of cream cheese, softened
  • Drizzle of lemon juice
  • Freshly ground pepper, to taste
  • 8 baby spinach leaves
  • 75 g (2 1/2 oz) of sliced smoked trout
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) of red onion, minced
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) of capers, drained
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) of dill sprigs
  • Zest of 1/2 lemon
  • 2 tbsp of olive oil


  1. Toast the bread.
  2. While the bread is toasting, mix the cream cheese, pepper and lemon juice.
  3. Spread the cream cheese mixture on the bread.
  4. Arrange the spinach leaves on top.
  5. Add the slices of smoked trout.
  6. Garnish with the red onion, capers, dill, lemon zest and olive oil.
  7. Top with bread and enjoy.
